From a poll of a small sample size (3, which means this isn't scientific at all) of middle class engineers and high tech employees, none of them reported having feelings about how this film made them feel that the Chinese government was dozing buildings on those who didn't want to leave. I know for a fact that people are losing homes in this manner. Perhaps this phenomena is local to a region or maybe it isn't anything more than fear by those who control the media, or maybe officials are trying to help out the Confucius movie.

I've read in the news about people upset about being forcibly removed. But whether Avatar is reaching this demographic is still in question in my mind. I have no evidence of this but perhaps word of mouth (WOM) about stories of this hasn't penetrated the middle class demographic. Those polled felt that the biggest impact the movie made on them was about preserving nature and its beauty. A movie in china is just as expensive as Seattle, so I don't expect anyone whose home is being dozed is actually going to spend that money see Avatar in the theater.

If anyone has a story to share about Avatar, please share it.

Matata, one thing I wonder about is whether the "Avatar" effect in China is real. Are people really seeing this movie and feeling moved about themselves or people they know being relocated into different housing districts? Or is it an excuse to usher Avatar out of the 2-D theaters to make way for Confucius? With a State department in charge of the movie industry, there are more agendas to think about....

Last night, I went to the cinema and watched it again. I cannot deny I went to it again for visual stimulation but still I try to perform further analysis :-P First, I think Pandora is the cousin of the Earth, but is more beautiful without environmental pollution (perhaps because it doesnt experience the industrial revolution). Second, the natives called Na'vi are more like the early American Indians, but they have long tails that are perhaps used to keep body balance. The strongest potential of Na'vi is that they can be connected to the Pandora network through that saint tree, but they havnt found a fast and convinient way to set up realiable and upgrable mental telepathy connections which are far more powerful than the communication approach of earthmen. If Na'vis want to drive away the invaders in the next battle, they should research and develop the networking technology (or skills). Third, it is really hard to believe the earthmen are still so stupid even after the earth is destroyed by them. Isnt it a tragedy? Does that mean the current means of environmental protection are not effective? Perhaps we should turn to this book and find out a way to stick the enviromental protection hearts of people http://www.madetostick.com/blog/
